TWO teenage males - aged 17 and 19 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a cyclist was allegedly targetted.

The 31-year-old cyclist was riding along the pathway leading from Passfield Crescent towards the A66 in South Bank at around 9am on Thursday, October 7 when, he was approached by three unknown males on a quad bike.

The suspects then allegedly attacked him, punching him to the ground and assaulting him while he lay defenceless, before stealing his personal belongings and quantities of foreign currencies - US Dollars, Singapore Dollars and Indian Rupees.

The man attended James Cook University Hospital where he received surgery for serious facial injuries.

He was later discharged.

The teenagers were interviewed and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage which could assist to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number quoting ref 169822.
