A ROOFING company was left with a hefty bill after failing to give information to the police.

Darlington based Foster and Sons was fined after failing to give information to police in relation to the identification of a driver.

Foster and Sons, of Harrowgate village, will have to pay a total of £836 after failing to attend a hearing at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

It relates to an incident in Spennymoor, in County Durham, on April 15.

The company was accused of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a Vauxhall vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

No one from the company attended the court hearing and the case was proved in its absence on Thursday, October 21.

Magistrates sitting in Peterlee issued a £660 fine and ordered Foster and Sons to pay costs of £110 and £66 which goes to funding victim services.

The company has until November 18 to pay £836.
