FIVE former winners of the iconic Scott Trial were among the riders who battled it out for the 2021 title in the Yorkshire Dales on Saturday.

The event, organised by Richmond Motor Club, attracted top riders from across the British Isles, with French ace Benoit Dagnicourt travelling over from Nemours, south of Paris, to sample the Yorkshire countryside.

Scores of spectators saw Guy Kendrew speed round the 70-mile course in just five hours, 17 minutes and 56 seconds.

Only winner Jack Price and Billy Green managed to keep time faults down to six.

Even former winner James Dabill and Richard Sadler of Wensleydale incurred damaging time penalties.

Skeeby’s Jonathan Richardson was favourite to post the fastest time but ran out of fuel, and the time lost swept away his chances.

With observation losses, he dropped to thirteenth place.
