BOXING champion Troy Williamson is set to make a homecoming visit to Darlington this weekend.

The 30-year-old won the British Super Welterweight title in Liverpool last weekend after defeating Ted Cheeseman with a brutal tenth round knockout to win the belt.

It extended his unbeaten record to 18 bouts with 13 knockouts and lifted him up to 11th in the IBF rankings.

Williamson has been turning heads in the sport for the last few years.

After the fight, Williamson told of the hard work and dedication he has put into his training to become champion.

He said: "I’ve come up the hard way. Selling tickets in a small show, not getting the recognition that I truly believe I deserve and I’m here now."

This Sunday, he will appear at Darlington Market at 1pm to talk about his win and his future plans.
