NORTH Yorkshire police have issued an appeal for information after a vehicle was set on fire in Scarborough over the weekend, causing damage to a property.

Police say the incident happened on Saturday October 9 in the early hours of the morning and fire services attended the scene to extinguish the fire.

Investigations by police have established that the vehicle was deliberately set of on fire by an unknown individual and as a result, the fire caused damage to a nearby property and another vehicle on the street.

The force are requesting the full circumstances surrounding the incident and are asking anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire police on 101.
