A MAN suffered serious head and leg injuries when he was hit by a lorry in York.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the collision, which  happened in the early hours of Saturday, October 2 at around 1.45am on Wigginton Road (B1363) between the railway line and the Bumper Castle.

The lorry was travelling out of the city towards the ring road.

Officers are are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a man in dark clothing walking along Wigginton Road between the Crichton Avenue junction and Bumper Castle in the early hours of Saturday morning.

They also ask motorists to check their dashcam footage if they were traveling in the area at the time, for any footage of the man walking along the road, or the collision itself.

The man, who is aged in his 40s, last night remained in hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services tended to the casualty, to allow collision investigators to examine the scene and to recover the vehicle involved.

It reopened at around 8am.
