TEESSIDE Airport has reopened today after being closed following a plane crash on the runway.

The crash, which involved a light aircraft, happened just after 9.30am on Saturday.

The pilot and two passengers were taken to James Cook University Hospital following the incident, where they are being treated.

The airport remained closed all weekend to allow the Air Accidents Investigations Branch carry out their investigation.

The team finished its on-site investigations yesterday. 

The airport opened as planned this morning and the first Loganair service of the day to London Heathrow departed on time.

Emergency services were called to the airport on Saturday following the crash, which happened at 9.39am.

It happened shortly after the aircraft, which had three people on board, took off.
