MORE than a dozen bottle of suspected stolen whiskey were seized by police shortly after being taken from a County Durham retail park.

PCSOs Mike Atkinson and Sarah Hill, who are the officers for St Helen Auckland and Tindale, near Bishop Auckland, were on patrol when they were alerted to some ongoing shoplifting at a nearby retail park.

Using the ShopWatch radio scheme, which connects retailers at Tindale retail park with police, they were able to locate the suspects almost immediately.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "It took them seconds to locate the suspects, along with £550 worth of stolen Jack Daniel's. A request by one of the suspects to 'keep the half empty one' was politely declined by the attending officer."

Three suspects were arrested.
