A DARLINGTON hospital has closed after a car crashed into a wall earlier today, The Northern Echo understands.
Staff at BMI Woodlands Hospital in Morton Park have been turning patients away with appointments cancelled as a result.
The Northern Echo has been told a driver is currently on the scene and is being assessed by ambulance crews.
It is thought the hospital will need to be assessed for structural damage, and bosses are hoping they can reopen tomorrow (September 11).
A spokesperson for BMI Healthcare said: "A car has hit a wall on the side of the hospital. No one in the hospital was injured. The driver of the car is currently being assessed by an ambulance crew.
"While we have cancelled appointments as a precautionary measure for today, the damage to the building seems minor and is being assessed by a structural engineer. Currently, we plan to reopen tomorrow."
Durham Police said the female driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
