TWO filthy kittens with worm infestations were found dumped by a member of the public on a road leading up to a popular North Yorkshire tourist attraction last week.

The RSPCA is now appealing for information after the two kittens were found on the side of a road near Bolton Abbey estate.

The member of the public managed to catch the pair and placed them in a box.

Taking the kittens home, a friend who was looking after the cats on their behalf on Saturday, reported the matter to the RSPCA.

Animal rescuer Inspector Catherine Maddison was sent to collect the two male kittens, both ginger and white, and they are now in RSPCA foster care

The RSPCA say Catherine is now appealing for information to help find out who dumped the kittens, who were dirty and had worm infestations.

She said: “They are recovering well but I would like to trace the person responsible for discarding them like pieces of rubbish at the side of a road.

“This is a busy area with tourists so I am hoping someone may have seen something suspicious.

“It was lucky they were found and they needed veterinary treatment as they were both filthy (see photo above) and needed worming.

“They had dirt on their claws and on their face and their ears were also filthy.

“One of them appeared to have urine burns near his paws suggesting they had been kept in dirty conditions - and this has made me concerned for the mother of the kittens and any other siblings so I am keen to find out more information.”

She added that both are now doing well and once the kittens were old enough, they would be available for rehoming.

She said: “They are about seven weeks old and are adorable little kittens so I am sure they will find their forever home once they are in better health.”
