A FREE jobs fair with more than 35 employers from across the region will be held in County Durham later this month.

Richard Holden, MP for North West Durham, will host the inaugural Jobs, Jobs, Jobs Fair, at Derwentside College, Consett, DH8 5EE ,on Friday, September 17, from 10am to 3pm.

Local employers currently seeking to hire include Amazon, Nissan, Go North East, Fire Service, B&Q, Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, ALDI, the Army, and NHS.

Positions range from apprenticeship to experiences career hires in construction and engineering, delivery drivers, store workers, chefs, care workers, salesmen, HR assistants, NHS roles and hospitality.

Mr Holden said: “As the country re-opens and furlough comes to an end, I am aware that there will be a number of my constituents who will be seeking work as well as employers looking to take on new staff and apprentices as they start to build back better.

"For this reason, I have decided to host a jobs and apprenticeships fair.

“I am pleased that my call to companies and organisations seeking to recruit staff has been answered.

"Over 35 top local and regional employers will be attending, including Amazon, Nissan, Go North East, the Fire Service, B&Q, Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, ALDI, the ARMY, the NHS & more. Crucially, all are seeking to hire staff now, with positions ranging from entry level school leavers to experienced hires.

"The fair is free for both organisations and attendees and I very much hope you will come along to Derwentside College on September 17 to find the career path that you want to take."

A Government Minister will also be attending the event.
