POLICE were on the scene after a van crashed into a shop in Darlington at about lunchtime today.

The van veered across the pavement before crashing into Retro Replay, a vintage shop in High Northgate.

It appears to be wedged between the building and a post box and the crash has dislodged the shop's sign.

One police car is on the scene and work is being done to repair the sign. 

The road is partially blocked, though traffic is able to travel in both directions. 

There are some delays to traffic entering Darlington via the A167 and traffic is queuing in the vicinity of the incident.
