THE region is set to see a brand new crazy golf attraction open - with the name a familiar one in Manchester, Leeds and London.

With cocktails, three bars and an array of 'bizarre and weird' themed courses, Junkyard Golf Club will open its sixth venue - and first in region - in Newcastle later this year.

The venue will open on Newgate Street and will feature three 9-hole crazy golf courses complete with scrapyard slides, wrecked car parts, circus 'freaks' and jungle bathtubs.

An exact opening date has not yet been confirmed, although bosses say it will likely open in Winter where it will trade seven days a week until late.

Over the years, the brand has become quite the success with venues also in Liverpool and Oxford continuing to prove a hit with tourists, residents and visitors.

Sophie-Larissa Houghton of Junkyard Golf Club said: “Newcastle is a mega city with such a bold personality; it has such a buzz.

"We are honored and so excited to become part of the scene with our first site in the North East.

"We are in the process of planning our best ever junkyard launch party in the city with a local company and plan to land with a massive bang. It’s what Junkyard is all about."

Revealing some of the further details, Junkyard Golf Club said the three new bars will be renowned for their wildly colourful, creative and 'instagrammable' cocktails.

Junkyard Golf Newcastle has now started recruitment with a range of roles including managers, supervisors, bar staff and host staff.
