Travelling multiple trails in Yorkshire Mr Kirkwood managed to clock up 905 miles in order to raise money and awareness for Multiple Systems Atrophy Trust.

He said: "It was extremely daunting at the beginning, I’m sort of over 60 and although I walked a bit as a teenager I haven’t done much in recent years.

“Multiple Systems Atrophy is a rare neurological problem and pretty soon from onset it destroys balance and the ability to walk.

“So walking was something that I though I would want to do in support of it and the trust helped my family when my wife suffered from it."
