POLICE say a missing 66-year-old may have travelled by bus travelling towards Newcastle.

William Matthews, from Stokesley, has been missing from his home in the Acres area since Saturday.

There are increasing concerns about his welfare and he is being treated as a high-risk missing person.

He was first reported as missing by North Yorkshire Police but when his vehicle was recovered near to Newport roundabout in Middlesbrough the search moved to Teesside.

Officers now have  footage which shows on Saturday July 31 at around 11am he boarded a ‘Go North East’ bus service which terminates in Newcastle.

Mr Matthews is described as white, 6ft tall, bald and with round shoulders.

He is seen in these CCTV images wearing a dark coloured puffa style coat, a t-shirt and jeans.

Police believe he is unlikely to have changed clothes as he had no luggage.

Anyone with any information which may assist is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101, reference 127741.
