NHS Blood and Transplant are urgently asking for support for blood donations.

The blood donation service urgently need donors in the Redcar and Cleveland area.

You can donate at upcoming sessions at Redcar and Cleveland College.

The blood service have extra safety measures in place and every precaution is being taken to eliminate the risk of Covid-19 transmission at the blood donation sessions.

The sessions are at Redcar and Cleveland College in Corporation Road, Redcar.

There are sessions available on August 3 between 1.55pm and 7.10pm and August 9 between 1.40pm and 7.25pm.

Specifically the service needs people who are O positive, O negative, and B negative blood types.

Anyone who is fit and healthy, weighs between 7 stone12 pounds and 25 stone, are aged between 17 and 66 - or 70 if you have donated before can give blood.

Men can donate more regularly than women and if you are black, Ro blood is needed and is a common type for black donors.

O negative - hospitals need this blood type most regularly, as it can be given to all patients.

Men can give blood every 12 weeks and women can give blood every 16 weeks.
