A MAN was arrested after a report of a burglary in progress in Middlesbrough.

Officers were called to Cresswell Close at around 9pm on yesterday (Thursday).

Police officers responded, including police dog unit Rocky and handler PC Mo Rashad.

PD Rocky detained a male who was then arrested and taken into police custody.

Gas pipes had been cut in the property, resulting in the evacuation of neighbouring properties until the gas was isolated.

Cleveland Fire Brigade assisted at the scene.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft and he remains in police custody at this time.
