THREE men were taken to hospital after being cut from a vehicle following a crash on the A19 today.

It happened on the A19 northbound, near Staddle Bridge, just south of the junction for Ellerbeck, just before 4am this morning. 

Three people were taken to James Cook University Hospital by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said the incident involved three vehicles and happened at 3.55am.

They added: "The occupants of the white Toyota Hilux and the yellow Daily Iveco were uninjured.

"The occupants of the silver Nissan Juke, all men aged 21, 26 and 31, were taken to hospital with serious but not believed to be life threatening, injuries.

"The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene and it re-opened shortly after 8.30am.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who was driving in the area at the time and might have dashcam footage, is asked to contact police. Dial 101, press 1 and pass information onto the force control room quoting reference number 12210170280."

A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency call just before 4am this morning (29 July) to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the A19 northbound, just south of the junction for Ellerbeck.

"We dispatched three ambulances and a clinical supervisor to the scene and three patients were conveyed to James Cook University Hospital."

The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the incident.

A spokesperson said: "Crews from Northallerton and Stokesley responded to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle. The crews used cutting equipment to extricate three males who were all taken to hospital via road ambulance."

North Yorkshire Police have been contacted for further details.
