A £1,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the arrest of a wanted North East fugitive.

Northumbria Police said attempts are ongoing to trace Lee Ferguson, 36, who has been evading officers since May this year.

Ferguson, whose last known address was in the Bowness Avenue area of Wallsend, is wanted on prison recall for breaching the terms of his licence.

Independent charity Crimestoppers has now offered a £1,000 reward for anyone who provides key information that leads to his arrest.

A spokesperson said: “Ferguson is fully aware that he is wanted and will be returned to prison when he is successfully located.

“We believe he has access to a number of addresses across Northumbria.

“The best scenario for everyone is for Ferguson to hand himself in at the nearest police station.

“I would like to remind people that harbouring a wanted fugitive is a criminal offence – which could result in a jail term.

“We do not want anybody to get into trouble on Ferguson’s account, so are appealing to anybody who has seen him to get in touch – it may be worth a four-figure sum.”

Information must be passed directly to Crimestoppers in order to be eligible for the cash reward, via the 0800-555111 number or fill in the untraceable anonymous form at crimestoppers-uk.org

Information can also be reported at Northumbria Police’s website, on 101, or email 2461@northumbria.pnn.police.uk
