NORTH Yorkshire has been crowned the best county in the UK for adventure according to a new study by outdoor experts - here's why.
Millets released The Adventure Index which reveals the best destinations for an adventure holiday in 2021.

The study aims to look at a number of outdoor activities such as waking routes, mountain bike trails and climbing routes as well as natural features such as lakes and mountains.
The full list of outdoor activities include: Walking and running trails, mountain bike trails, climbing routes, canoeing or kayaking centres, outdoor skiing slopes, Horse riding trails, campsites, number of lakes and the number of P600 mountains.
North Yorkshire’s total number of outdoor activities reached 2,909 with the likes of the beautiful North York Moors. The County also boasts 1,037 mountain bike trails, 884 running or walking trails and 189 climbing routes.

The county also leads the way with campsites, offering 530 sites all together, with Cornwall coming in close second with 495 camp sites on offer.
In second place for overall outdoor activities comes the Highland in Scotland, offering 2,627 adventure activities with 309 lakes, 56 of the largest P600 mountains and 1001 mountain bike trails.
