A MAN accused of being a street dealer in cocaine is to stand trial later this month.

Brian Haswell denied a charge of possession of the class A drug with intent to supply, when he appeared at a plea hearing at Durham Crown Court, on April 26.

The 53-year-old defendant, of Eldon Terrace, Ferryhill, admitted simple possession of the class B drug, cannabis.

Both charges arise from the police recovery of quantities of the two drugs, plus an amount of cash, on July 2, last year.

The defendant appeared again at the court for a further case management hearing, yesterday, and his counsel, Stephen Hamill, said he stands by his previous pleas.

Judge Ray Singh adjourned the case and bailed the defendant to return for trial, on Wednesday July 28.
