BUDDING entrepreneurs from a North Yorkshire school have impressed judges with their inspirational ideas.

More than 120 year 9 students from Ripon Grammar School rose to the challenge to create something new and exciting to make Ripon stand out and attract more visitors.

Ideas included a light rail transit station, bowling alleys, sports stadiums, an arts and culture centre, adventure theme parks and an international fireworks competition,

Owen Robinson, project manager for the winning team, said students gained a huge amount from the experience.

He said: "We want a society where arts and culture are encouraged, taught, shared and valued."
