The Wensleydale Creamery, based at Hawes in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, has been shortlisted for the ‘E-commerce Initiative of the Year’ category at this year’s The Grocer Gold Awards alongside large household brands such as Asda, Kraft Heinz, Piccolo Foods and Sainsbury’s.

This recognition comes following the launch of the Wensleydale Creamery’s Online Deli in early 2020. When the Creamery’s Visitor Centre was forced to close due to the first covid lockdown in March 2020, the team worked tirelessly to create the online deli overnight, bringing the offering of cheese, butter, and local produce online, allowing consumers to enjoy their favourite cheeses at home. The Creamery has also helped support local businesses by stocking local Yorkshire produce and offering them an essential route to market during the pandemic.

The nomination comes at a great time for the business, as the team are continuing to expand the Online Deli and have already invested in additional space on site to fulfil ongoing demand, with ambitious growth plans for the future, just a few days after the announcement that the Creamery had been bought by Saputo, one of the top ten dairy groups in the world, for £23million.
