JUST in case anyone ever thinks that I may have any racial issues, Dr Martin Luther King in my eyes is the finest human being who ever lived that I’m aware of.
I have been so very fortunate to be able to visit Atlanta, Georgia, and Dr King’s modest home. His church and the Martin Luther King Centre where he is buried within a marvellous memorial fitting for such an influential figure but what some people seem to miss is that Dr King’s aim was racial equality receiving the Noble Peace Prize for his work for everyone – equality, that’s the defining word.
Dr King had already written nine books, spoken over 2,500 times and travelled over 2.5m miles in the process before being murdered at the age of just 39.
Now that is a man who I would drop to my knees any day for, not that he would ever ask for that – that wasn’t what he was about.
God bless Martin Luther King and his beliefs.
John Cumberland, Rushyford.
