NORTH Yorkshire police are appealing for information on a man after two fraud incidents where he tried to confuse shop staff.

Police are asking if anyone recognises Radu Gustea, also known as Radu Rostas and Radu Anghel, 34 from Rotherham, in connection with the incidents.

The fraud, which is known as "ringing the changes" happened at two shops in Northallerton and Scarborough and involves the suspect attempting to confuse shop staff and use sleight of hand to defraud the shop during cash transactions and deposits.

Officers have made numerous enquiries to locate Gustea and are now appealing to the public to help trace him.

According to police, Gustea has connections in South Yorkshire, links to the wider Yorkshire region and Northumbria.

If you have seen Gustea or recognise him, police ask that you contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room. If you have an immediate sighting of him, please call your local police on 999.
