A CYCLIST was found unconscious in a seaside town in the early hours and police are trying to establish what happened to him.

North Yorkshire Police are investigating after the cyclist, in his thirties, was found unconscious at around 2am on Sunday morning on Peasholm Road in Scarborough.

He was found by a passer-by not far from the crazy golf course and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury.

There was a road closure in place at Peasholm North Marine and Victoria Park, while officers worked at the scene to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone who was travelling in the area late Saturday night, early Sunday morning, is asked to contact 101.
