NORTH Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are encouraging young people to get involved in a competition to name their two newest fire engines.

The service is asking children who live in and around Northallerton and Richmond to get involved.

The competition marks the arrival of two new fire engines, each carrying state-of-the-art equipment and will serve the communities of Northallerton and Richmond and the surrounding area. 

The two new engines replaced the old engines which were due for a replacement due to their age.

To enter the competition, North-Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are asking people to watch their safe and well video provided on their website and complete thte entry form telling them what they learned from the video and suggesting a name for the fire engines.

After shortlisting, the winning names will be chosen on the week starting on June 28 by Philip Allott, North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.

The two winners will have their names displayed on the side of each new fire engines and each engine taken to the winning child’s school, for an official naming ceremony.
