THREE men have pleaded not guilty to an allegation of aggravated burglary which resulted in a violent brawl inside the grounds of primary school.

Leejay Brown, Robbie Lainton and John Sullivan all appeared at Teesside Crown Court this morning to deny involvement in the fight at Berwick Hills Primary School last month.

Lainton, 27, of Chertsey Avenue, Middlesbrough, also denied a charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

A fourth man, Ryan Anderson, did not appear during this morning’s hearing but will face a catalogue of charges at a later date.

The 28-year-old, of Marton Road, Middlesbrough, is charged with aggravated burglary, dangerous driving, attempted robbery, possession of a bladed article, burglary, theft of motor vehicle, driving with no licence, driving with no insurance, possession of an offensive weapon, criminal damage, and failure to provide a specimen.

The four men are accused of using an axe and machete during an aggravated burglary on Friday May 14 when a car and motorbike were stolen from an address on Ellerby Green, Pallister Park, Middlesbrough.

Brown, 27, of Cottingham Drive, Middlesbrough, 28-year-old Sullivan, of Langridge Crescent, Middlesbrough, and Lainton, were all remanded in custody until their trial.

Judge Recorder Marco Giuliani adjourned the case until November 22 when a provisional date for the five day trial has been listed.
