Man charged with attempted kidnap and rape after incident at Tees Barrage
Detectives are appealing for information after an alleged incident near the Tees Barrage last month at approximately 11.20am on Sunday, May 23.
A man was reported to have attempted to grab a woman, who fought him off and ran to a group of people who assisted her.
The 54-year-old man was arrested nearby shortly afterwards and subsequently charged with attempted kidnap with intent to commit rape.
Cleveland Police are now appealing for those who are reported to have helped the woman, as well as any other witnesses to the alleged incident, to contact Detective Constable Sarah Beadle at Stockton CID via the 101-number quoting Ref 082653.
