A LOCAL hospital charity is asking people to put the kettle on, reflect on a year like no other and raise money for NHS staff.

Our Hospitals Charity, the fundraising arm of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, wants as many people as possible in the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire to get involved in the nation’s biggest tea break.

The NHS Big Tea, on Monday, July 5 at 3pm, will thank NHS staff and volunteers for everything that they have done and continue to do, while raising funds for hospitals.

Each event can be in person or virtual and those taking part are asked to donate £5 to their local hospital by texting NHSTEA to 70560.

Head of Our Hospitals Charity Ben Murphy said: “We really hope everyone will come together for the NHS Big Tea.

"It’s an opportunity for us all to sit back, enjoy a cuppa, reflect on the last year and donate some money for our patients and staff.

"We would love for you to let your guests and us know how much you’ve raised by sharing a snap of it online, don’t forget to tag us on social media. Thank you so much for showing your love, gratitude and generosity – over tea.”

Ellie Orton, CEO of NHS Charities Together, which is behind the NHS Big Tea, said: “Many of us have a lot to be grateful to NHS staff and volunteers for following the year we have had."
