HUNDREDS of runners have pounded the pavements to raise thousands of pounds for a North Yorkshire school.
Harrogate Grammar School organised a short fun run to boost its fund for a climbing wall for pupils.
Taking part were 365 runners, ranging in age from children to adults - many in fancy dress.
The school hopes to have raised more than £3,000 during the event, held at The Pavilions, in Harrogate.
Among the competitors was the school's headteacher, Richard Sheriff, deputy headteacher Patrick Horne and assistant headteacher Steve McKenzie.
Darlington Harrier Stephen O'Neil won the race, with grammar school teacher Mike Bailey second.
The first woman home was Amanda Finney, eighth overall, while her daughter, Abi, was the first girl to finish, in 44th.
Ruth Curtis, faculty leader for PE and sport, said: "We were blessed with the weather and it was a super turnout.
"It was certainly a first, staging a warm-up for competitors in Santa costumes!
"We would like a climbing wall for both core lessons and after-school activities.
"It's a sport that is growing in popularity and is excellent for building strength, coordination and muscular endurance."
Harrogate Grammar School's Sports Association is to match the funds raised by the run.
