A MOUNTAIN Rescue Team was called out after a 17-year-old collapsed in woods.

Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team was contacted shortly before 3pm today (Sunday) by the North East Ambulance Service with a request for assistance after a a 17-year-old male collapsed.

The teenager had collapsed in Reed’s Wood near Guisborough.

His exact location was not known.

The Mountain Rescue team were alerted and asked to attend an RV-point near to Hutton village.

One member of the team who had been walking in the area was quickly able to locate the boy and relay the location to her colleagues.

She also carried out a casualty care assessment whilst waiting for assistance.

Other team members soon arrived on scene and the boy was then transported in a mountain rescue Land Rover back to the RV-point and handed over to the waiting ambulance crew.

Eighteen volunteer team members were involved - or en route when stood-down - plus one other person co-ordinated their response remotely.

The Mountain Rescue Team said the incident was completed within one hour and 25 minutes plus time to return home and to the team’s base, where decontamination of the vehicles and equipment took further time.
