DETECTIVES are continuing to investigate an armed brawl which put Teesside primary school onto lockdown.

The incident happened at Berwicks Hill Primary School on Friday morning. 

Men were seen fighting with weapons outside the school at about 8.40am.

The school was put on lockdown after the fight spilled into its grounds. 

Armed police arrested four men, and "sharp objects" were recovered, with officers later making two further arrests.

A member of the public who tackled the men suffered minor injuries, police said yesterday. 

Today, Cleveland Police issued a further appeal for anyone with information who has not yet come forward to contact detectives.

Several arrests have been made in connection with the incident  - which is believed to be linked to an earlier alleged aggravated burglary. 

Three men were released with no further police action and the rest remain in custody undergoing questioning.

Members of the public are also being asked not to speculate on social media as this could affect any future legal process.
