THERE have been a further 83 cases of Covid-19 in the North-East and North Yorkshire.
A further 2,193 people tested positive for the virus across the UK.
It brings the total to 4,446,824.
The Government said a further 17 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 127,668.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
There were a further seven deaths at hospitals in England, including one at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
A breakdown of the number of cases in the region since the pandemic began are:

North Tyneside: 12,634 was 12,617, an increase of 17
North Yorkshire: 30, 138 was 30,126, an increase of 4
Northumberland: 17,617 was 17,608, an increase of 9
Redcar and Cleveland: 9,365 was 9,364; an increase of 1
South Tyneside: 11,411 was 11,409, an increase of 2
Stockton: 16,027 was 16,024, an increase of 3
Sunderland: 22,178 was 22,175, an increase of 3
York: 12,339 was 12,334, an increase of 5
