A STOCKTON man who was a former patient returned to the NHS health team that treated them and gave them a specially designed medal.

Eric Powell (MBE) was diagnosed with cancer and spent several weeks at the University Hospital of North Tees during his procedure.

Mr Powell presented the specially designed medal to the urology unit at the hospital to show his appreciation for the treatment he received during his stay.

The medal is a copy of the ones given out as part of the Eric Powell MBE Charity Cup, and he also presented the team with a framed photo to display on the unit.

Mr Powell said: "I would like to thank the staff in the urology unit for all their care and attention. Nothing was ever too much for them; their organisation was immaculate.

He continued “I wanted to present something that the staff can see on a daily basis and know that everything they do is making a real difference

Karen Kilburn, specialist urology nurse, said: "It’s fantastic to see Eric looking so well
