POLICE are trying to trace a man after a number of reports of someone trying vehicle doors in North Yorkshire.

A series of incidents have been reported in Bedale and surrounding villages since April 23.

The most recent took place on Monday, May 3.

All the incidents have happened in the early hours of the morning, between 1am and 4.15am.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

The man is described as wearing a dark coloured woolly beanie style hat, a dark coloured jacket with a reflective logo on the front and back and dark trousers.

He has a distinctive way of walking, seeming to favour his right leg.

Anyone with information which could help the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting ref: 12210104807.

Police are reminding people to remember to lock their vehicles.

A spokeperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The man has not caused any damage or broken into vehicles, he is targeting those that are not locked so please remember to lock your cars and vans. It's easy to forget whether you've done so and always worth double checking."
