OFFICIAL Government figures show a further 27 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 127,570.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 2,144 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

A total of 42,408,492 Covid-19 vaccinations took place in England between December 8 and May 4, according to NHS England data, including first and second doses, which is a rise of 310,900 on the previous day.

NHS England said 29,124,310 were the first dose of a vaccine, a rise of 99,261 on the previous day, while 13,284,182 were a second dose, an increase of 211,639.

There were a further 215 confirmed cases of Covid across the North-East and North Yorkshire in the last 24 hours.
