POLICE are trying to trace the movements of a man whose body was found in an industrial estate on Christmas Day.

A dog walker found the 53-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, in the Salters Lane Industrial Estate in Sedgefield.

The man, who lived in nearby Cunnigham Court, was wearing a T-shirt, jeans and slippers when he was discovered.

His death is not being treated as suspicious by detectives, who are now trying to piece together his movements between 12.30am on Christmas Day, when a neighbour saw him leave his house, and 3.15pm, when the local man saw him while walking his dog.

A post-mortem examination was carried out this morning at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

Detective Sergeant Tony MacDougall, of Durham Police, said: "The deceased lived not far from the industrial estate and we can only guess at why he was in the location he was found.

"It is possible he could have been lying there for some time. He was not dressed in suitable clothing for the outdoors and with the temperatures.

"Although he had some scratches on his head there's nothing to suggest his death is suspicious."
