ONE of the largest scale theatre productions seen at Durham University will take to the stage next month.

The university Light Opera Group (Dulog) production of Cole Porter's musical Anything Goes is such an undertaking the whole student cast is returning to the city before term starts for a week-and-a-half of intensive rehearsals.

Dulog's five-night run will be the only student-performed piece seen at Durham's Gala Theatre during this academic year.

Nick Lee, president of Dulog, hopes the show will attract residents and students, and unite the city for an evening of fantastic theatre.

Dulog is returning to the Gala following last year's successful production of Sweeney Todd.

The jazz musical Anything Goes tells the story of Billy Crocker, a young love-sick Wall Street broker who stows away on the SS American, in an attempt to win the heart of Hope Harcourt. It features hit songs Anything Goes and I Get A Kick Out Of You.

Anything Goes runs from Tuesday, January 22, to Saturday, January 26.

Tickets are 14 for adults, 10.50 for students and concessions.

Tickets for the first night are available priced 7.

There are matinee performances on Wednesday, January 23, and Saturday, January 26, with tickets priced 8.
