THE Northern Echo Camera Club has more than 2,200 members and we regularly feature their pictures both in the paper and online.
But we thought it would be good to find out more about the people who make up the club.
If you are a member of the club and want to be part of our Behind the Lens feature, email sarah.caldecott@nne. co.uk.
If you would like to join the camera club, go to www.facebook.com/groups/echocameraclub.
This week, we meet Andy Futers, from Darlington.
What inspired you to get into photography?
I’ll cut a long story short. I broke my spine in two places – this is now fixed, which is great, but the hobbies I did before, I wasn’t able to do, so my wife and children said, “there’s a camera, you like taking photos so go and do something with it”, so that’s what I did. I’m self taught, but my dad John taught me few things and the rest was YouTube videos and I’ve gone on from there.
What was your first camera?
My first camera was a Fuji pic Bridge and then I went to a Nikon d3100.
What is your favourite lens?
I’ve got two nifty fifty Nikon lenses 1.4 and my Sigma 70-200.
What is your go-to kit?
Nikon d750, Nikon 50mm, Sigma 70-200 and 24-70mm Sigma.
What is your favourite type of photography?
Sports and concerts/gigs
Favourite photo?
My favourite is the one I took of the suffragettes in the town centre, because that’s the one that made me a few penny’s and people really liked it.”
