COPPERS' cuppas have helped cheer up sick children who are facing Christmas in hospital.
Officers from Durham Police handed over a DVD/video recorder to Tree Tops Children's Ward, at the University Hospital of North Durham, on Friday.
The officers bought the gift with the spare money left in the headquarters' tea fund at the end of the year - and chipped in some more themselves to make up the difference.
Sergeant Dave Turner said: "We decided that rather than waste the money, we'd do something useful with it.
"I always feel sorry for anyone who is in hospital at this time of year.
"The staff were really pleased with it, and we hope the children will get plenty of enjoyment out of it."
