CHILDREN at a North-East rock workshop have entertained their friends and families with a punk version of a Christmas classic.
Nine youngsters took part in the one-day workshop run by the Darlington School of Rock and Pop, at Darlington Arts Centre, on Saturday.
The youngsters met for the first time in the morning before learning a song together and playing it to an audience later that afternoon.
Tutor Andrew Meadowcroft said: "The day went really well.
"What I love about these events is that, apart from two sisters, the children had never met, but after half an hour they're playing in a band together. I found a really obscure punk version of Last Christmas and they learnt that while their parents went out and did a bit of shopping and then they performed it to them.
"It was a slightly younger group than we normally have, with an average age of about 12. But with kids, they show no fear.
"You would have thought they might be a bit nervous, but within half an hour they were really rocking out."
The School of Rock and Pop will be running another workshop in the February half-term holidays.
