TWO people were taken to hospital after a man got into difficulty in a North-East river.
Emergency services were called to help after a person was reported to have got into difficulties in the River Tees, in Yarm, on Thursday night.
Three fire crews from Thornaby and Yarm attended the incident, which happened at about 6.50pm, behind the Sainsbury's on High Street.
They were able to pull the person from the water and gave him first aid before handing him over to paramedics.
The Great North Air Ambulance and North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) also attended.
A spokeswoman for NEAS said: "We were called at 6.52pm last night (Thursday) to reports of a person in the river off High Street in Yarm.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews and an officer, and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance.
"Two patients were transported by road to North Tees Hospital."
