The Government said a further 40 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 127,080.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 150,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 2,589 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,368,045.

NHS England data shows a total of 3,991,833 jabs were given to people in London between December 8 and April 9, including 3,285,427 first doses and 706,406 second doses.

This compares with 5,249,019 first doses and 992,504 second doses given to people in the Midlands, a total of 6,241,523.

The breakdown for the other regions is:

– East of England: 3,228,415 first doses and 694,996 second doses, making 3,923,411 in total

– North East and Yorkshire: 4,265,647 first and 983,593 second doses (5,249,240)

– North West: 3,444,451 first and 787,185 second doses (4,231,636)

– South East: 4,398,258 first and 931,669 second doses (5,329,927)

– South West: 2,984,433 first and 621,783 second doses (3,606,216)
