CHILDREN across Teesside are being taken back over 200 million years with special TV programmes this week to the age of the dinosaurs.

And they won't have to go far to see it for themselves, Middlesbrough's Teessaurus Park is featuring in educational programming on Teesside TV as part of screening over the Easter holidays.

Children will get to meet the park's dinosaurs and learn all about them in filming done in association with Redcar and Eston School Sports Partnership. Families are also being urged to keep an eye out for the Redcar dinosaur.

It's being screened on Teesside TV from 7am on April 9, as part of programming from April 6 which also covers circus skills, yoga and arts and crafts, languages, boxing and mindfulness. Major improvements are planned at the park, Middlesbrough council is spending £250,000 on a cafe, play equipment and new lighting and sound effects. Cllr Mieka Smiles said: "It's great the park can be used as an educational asset. We'll be looking to work closely with schools as we make it so much better than it already is."
