EMERGENCY services attended a crash last night after a car overturned on a major road.
The incident is believed to have happened around 11pm on the A66 near Long Newton, between Darlington and Stockton.
Two other cars were involved in the crash and badly damaged.
Witnesses said the road was covered in debris and paramedics treated multiple people at the scene.
Two casualties were taken to ambulances on a stretcher with other walking wounded.
One witness said: "It was absolutely horrific and incredible nobody was killed. There were police, a drone, helicopter and police dogs who were searching the fields around the A66 as there were rumours someone was missing from the scene."
It is understood the A66 was closed for around two hours in both directions.
