A FAMILY-run Yorkshire sausage and burger maker has decided to do things a bit differently this Easter by creating a chocolate sausage for sweet-toothed sausage lovers.

North Yorkshire based HECK Food Ltd, known for their traditional bangers and burgers, has created the gourmet, gluten-free chocolate sausage after being inspired by the 'choc salame' popular across Europe.

The 'Chausage', as it's been named by HECK Food Ltd, is set to cost £10 including delivery with only 500 being made and will be available between March 26 and April 2 from their website

The gourmet Easter treat is a combination of gluten-free shortbread and Amaratti biscuits, butter, milk, sugar, sunflower seeds, apricots, glace cherries, raisins, and cocoa powder, finished with a dusting of icing sugar.

Jamie Keeble, HECK co-founder, said: "We love the idea of the sweet salame that are so popular in chocolate shops in Europe.

"With shelves full of Easter eggs, we thought we'd have some fun and give the Chausage a go and, if customers like it, it could pave the way for other sweet treats further down the line.”
