POLICE are taking action against gangs of anti-social youths and warning their parents they could be fined.
A two-day dispersal order was placed in the areas of Micklow Close, Roseberry Square and Ayton Drive in Redcar yesterday afternoon after residents raised issues with antisocial behaviour.
The order provides officers with the power to disperse people from an area if they have been or believed are likely to cause trouble.
If they fail to leave, or return within the order time, they can then be arrested.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Parents of youths who are not adhering to Covid regulations can also be fined if their children to not adhere by the rules. Parents in Thornaby and Middlesbrough have been fined recently.
"We have made it clear in the past that we would always prefer to engage and encourage youths to follow the regulations, however, we can only do this for so long before enforcement needs to be taken."
