A CYCLIST was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash with a car.
The collision happened at the junction of Cargo Fleet Lane and South Bank Road, Middlesbrough, at about 7pm on Friday.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses to a collision in which a cyclist suffered potentially life threatening injuries.
"The collision at around at the junction of Cargo Fleet Lane and South Bank Road it involved a white BMW 330 estate car and the red pedal bike.
"The 33-year-old rider struck the vehicle before falling to the floor.
"He sustained head and chest injuries and was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital where he remains receiving treatment.
"Inquiries are on-going and anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have captured it on dash cam is asked to contact PC Matthew Holman from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit via the 101 number, quoting ref 38697.
