THE total number of lives lost to Covid by each postcode area across the region has been released.
Official figures showing the number of Covid-related deaths in the North-East and North Yorkshire have been published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The figures, which show the total number of deaths between the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and January 2021, reveal how the virus has left its mark on communities.
The ONS has been recording deaths in England and Wales where Covid has been mentioned on a person's death certificate.
Those deaths have either been caused by Covid or where the virus has been deemed a 'contributing factor' in someone's death.
To give you the latest picture of how the virus has affected your area, we've analysed and published the wards of every Covid-related death in our region.
All deaths include fatalities that have taken place in hospitals, care homes, at home, communal settings and 'elsewhere.'
Parts of County Durham and Darlington have been among the worst affected across our region, with some areas seeing almost 50 deaths.
The Bishop Auckland Central and Darlington Bank Top wards have recorded some of the region's highest Covid-related deaths since the pandemic began.
